Update from Christine - March 8th

From Ms. Christine about Holland's day at Lab School --

Holland's day at school was good. Rosalinda said that near the end of outside time, she asked Holland if he could help her tell the children there was 5 minutes left. He was set on finding Emme to tell her first, asking where she was. I wonder if he has a good connection with her. He was really engaged in the manipulatives today - using caterpillars for a long time (segments that could interlock together) and a lock box in which there were lots of little compartments he could open. It reminded me of the focus he has with the animal hospital at home. He was very interested in the helicopter in the block area. There were little people also, that he put inside the helicopter before flying it. He's clearly able to differentiate pretend play and reality and is able to project how things work in real life to his pretend play (i.e., making sure there's a person to fly the helicopter). He waited for a long time to have a turn washing the babies, and when he did get a turn, he stayed for a very long time. What could be more fun? It's combining his interest in play with babies with his interest in washing [dishes]. He enjoyed putting them in rocking chairs as well and rocking it roughly, showing concern about them falling out. That also reminds me of what he would do with his stuffed animals - telling them, "Don't fall! Don't fall!" as he propped them precariously at the foot of the bed. When I picked him up, he had pee in his pull-up, but I took him to the restroom anyways and he peed.
