Update from Christine - Feb 7

From Ms. Christine -
Holland has generally been in really good spirits these days. He has a lot of energy and is very playful. It's only been 3 days since I saw him last, but as I was listening to him talk this morning, it seemed like his vocabulary has not only grown, but has also become more clear in that span of time! We at first started the day just straightening up a bit, putting anything that had a designated place back in its place. He is really familiar at this point with cleaning up certain things that we've already designated a place for - trash/tissues, books, electronics, shoes, clothes, kitchen things, things in the ottoman box, anything that has a box of similar items inside (like legos). One of the things we were cleaning up was the baby gear. He ended up doing pretend play for the majority of this morning! He set the baby and the gingerbread man up in the dual highchair and got a cup and pitcher to feed them "water." He also did a lot of pretend play with the grill, flipping buns, seasoning them and pretending to feed them to himself and me.

Toileting has been really successful today too. Holland has been dry all day. I gave him a potty sit at 9:15 and he peed with me less than a minute after sitting down. At 10:00, he actually TOLD me "potty," walked over and pulled down his pants and pull-up himself, and made pee. After a snack, I had him sit again before his nap and he made pee and poo. He went to sleep around 11:45. Scott was telling me that this weekend, he's been telling you/announcing what he's going to make/has made and he's been going to sit on the potty - sometimes with success! That's so great to hear! Anticipating the need to go and being able to actually sit on the potty before you do go requires a lot of awareness, control, and planning (to not go *while* he's walking to the bathroom/pulling his pants down/etc.) so that is so amazing to hear that Holland is getting the knack of it so early on!
